Your Future Self

- 00:03It's my honor and my privilege to be
- 00:05with you here today we're gonna do
- 00:08opening meditation and then we're going
- 00:11to transition into a guided meditation
- 00:13and today person going to talk a
- 00:16little bit about gratitude for others,
- 00:18gratitude for ourselves.
- 00:19And then we're going to think a
- 00:22little bit about our future selves.
- 00:24Sometimes we get so caught up
- 00:26in what's going on right now,
- 00:28and we can't sort of break.
- 00:31Through and think about, well,
- 00:32what do we have to look forward to?
- 00:34Where do I wanna be down the road
- 00:36and what do I want to be doing?
- 00:38And there's a whole world of opportunities
- 00:39that are always always waiting for us.
- 00:43So just start now by bringing
- 00:47your attention to your chest.
- 00:50To your physical heart.
- 00:53Or maybe whatever place in your body
- 00:56that you feel kind nisana connection.
- 01:01It could be the heart.
- 01:03It could be the belly or.
- 01:07It could be someplace else.
- 01:12Just notice if you're hurt,
- 01:15feels open or closed today
- 01:19anything in between.
- 01:22Just checking in not in
- 01:24order to change anything,
- 01:25but just in order to know.
- 01:31Now bring to mind one person
- 01:33you feel a connection with,
- 01:35or maybe somebody who you
- 01:38would like to connect with.
- 01:41Imagine that person being here
- 01:43with you may be sitting across
- 01:46from you and looking at you.
- 01:51Maybe feeling gratitude for
- 01:52this person being in your life.
- 01:59Maybe recalling something that you like
- 02:01about this person or something kind.
- 02:04That he or she has done.
- 02:10Now start sending this person
- 02:13wishes of loving kindness.
- 02:19May you be safe and protected
- 02:22from internal and external harm?
- 02:25May you be truly happy and peaceful.
- 02:30May you live your life with ease.
- 02:35May you be healthy and strong.
- 02:42Now find your breath and gather
- 02:45those wishes for yourself.
- 02:48For safety. Protection.
- 02:52Health. Hapiness. Ann is.
- 03:02Now maintain your comfortable position.
- 03:04If your eyes are open and allow them
- 03:08to close and just begin by focusing
- 03:11your thoughts on your breath.
- 03:14Breathing in. And breathing out.
- 03:21Breathing in easily and effortlessly.
- 03:27And then breathing out.
- 03:32Each breath allows you to become
- 03:35more relaxed and comfortable.
- 03:38Outside sounds only allow
- 03:40you to go deeper inside.
- 03:43A reminder of how good it is
- 03:46to leave the noise and stress
- 03:48of the outside world.
- 03:50An journey into the quiet and
- 03:53peace of your inner world.
- 03:59As you start to feel a sense of deep
- 04:03relaxation, picture yourself standing
- 04:05before a peaceful Lake or pond.
- 04:10Drop a Pebble into the center and
- 04:13notice the water rippling out.
- 04:18And as the ripples flow further
- 04:21out and eventually slow down the
- 04:24water once again becomes quiet.
- 04:26And peaceful. And so do you.
- 04:36Now, standing on the edge of the
- 04:39body of water, imagine that there
- 04:42is a light right between your eyes.
- 04:47What color is the light?
- 04:51Picture that light. As a bright
- 04:54beam that extends out into space.
- 05:01Just start your journey.
- 05:02Follow the beam as it leaves your
- 05:05room and travels up into the Sky.
- 05:11Take a minute to notice the beauty of
- 05:14the earth below the crystal blue ocean.
- 05:17The serene white clouds and allow yourself
- 05:20to enjoy this perspective for a moment.
- 05:26Once in the vastness of outer space,
- 05:29you'll notice a nearby light
- 05:31beaming up a different color.
- 05:35Begin to follow that beam back down to Earth.
- 05:40The beam is taking you back
- 05:43to Earth five years from now.
- 05:46Five years into the future.
- 05:50Just keep following this beam down
- 05:53noticing the curvature of the earth.
- 05:55The geography stretched out below you.
- 06:01As you come closer to the end of the beam,
- 06:04just keep noticing where you are.
- 06:08This is where your future self lives.
- 06:11You five years from now.
- 06:14Come into contact with the
- 06:16earth and notice where you are.
- 06:21Notice what dwelling or nature surrounds you.
- 06:34Now move to the dwelling
- 06:36of your future self.
- 06:38What does it look like?
- 06:41What kind of landscape does it have?
- 06:44Are there trees, Flowers?
- 06:47If So what kind?
- 06:51Get a sense of this place.
- 06:59You approach the entrance you're
- 07:02about to meet your future self.
- 07:06As your future self lets you
- 07:09in take a good look around.
- 07:13Greet your future self and notice the way
- 07:16your future self returns your greeting.
- 07:19Welcoming you into this time and
- 07:21place five years in the future.
- 07:26What does this person, the future look like?
- 07:32Notice how this person stands.
- 07:36What this person is wearing.
- 07:39Get a sense of this person's essence.
- 07:46Notice the inside of the dwelling.
- 07:49What kind of person lives here?
- 07:52What are the colors of this
- 07:54place in this? Anyone else there?
- 08:00Now move with your future self to a
- 08:03comfortable place for a conversation.
- 08:06Perhaps your future self
- 08:08offers you something to drink.
- 08:13Settle in and make yourself comfortable
- 08:16for a talk with your future self. There
- 08:21are questions that you might want to ask.
- 08:26Maybe begin by asking what are
- 08:28you doing with your life now?
- 08:33What do you love about your life?
- 08:37Take a moment now to hear the answer.
- 08:49Now ask your future self
- 08:51the following question.
- 08:53What do I need to know to
- 08:56get me from where I am now?
- 08:58To where you are.
- 09:01What would be most helpful?
- 09:04Listen to what your future
- 09:06self has to tell you.
- 09:21Now tell your future self one
- 09:24thing that is really bothering,
- 09:26hurting or worrying you right now and ask.
- 09:31How did you overcome this
- 09:34challenge or heartache?
- 09:47Next ask. What is our purpose?
- 10:03Finally, ask your future self
- 10:05to tell you one word that is
- 10:09important for you to remember.
- 10:11When you're feeling down or need support
- 10:15to keep going towards your goals.
- 10:18What is that one word and remember it?
- 10:33As you're about to leave,
- 10:35you notice that your future self has
- 10:38a gift for you. We see the gift.
- 10:45What is it? What do you notice about it?
- 10:50And ask them what would you like
- 10:53me to know about this gift?
- 11:10Now in bringing this visit to a close,
- 11:12thank your future self for being here with
- 11:15you today and sharing so much wisdom.
- 11:20Now take a deep breath.
- 11:23Breathing in this, experiencing and
- 11:26remembering what you need to remember.
- 11:34Now find your way back to the beam of Laden
- 11:38journey back up the beam watching this
- 11:41world of five years in the future grow
- 11:44even smaller as you move out into space.
- 11:49Again, you see the ball of blue and green
- 11:52below you, clouds swirling around it.
- 11:56Notice that your beam of light has
- 11:58intersected with a different beam of light.
- 12:01That will bring you back to
- 12:03this year and this location.
- 12:05You follow this beam of light
- 12:08back to the present time on Earth.
- 12:12And as you travel down this beam,
- 12:15notice the earth growing bigger and bigger.
- 12:19Moving farther down the beam.
- 12:22Notice that geography of the area.
- 12:25The skyline and landscape of your area.
- 12:31And finally come back into
- 12:33the room here where you are.
- 12:39Good.
- 12:45When you open your eyes just
- 12:47remain silent for a minute.
- 12:49Just think about the journey.
- 12:55It's coming back to the present
- 12:57time now and feeling more alert.
- 13:02You could start to stretch your body,
- 13:06move your shoulders in little circles.
- 13:10Feel the ground beneath you.
- 13:15Making little circles with your angles
- 13:18and pressing your feet on to the floor.
- 13:24If your eyes are closed,
- 13:26you can open your eyes.
- 13:28Just please stretch with wall
- 13:32bombs to each side reaching out.
- 13:37Reaching arms overhead.
- 13:41Then exhale Ng into prayer pose.
- 13:49Again, just take a moment.
- 13:51Just reflect upon how you feel right now.
- 13:58You should just be feeling very,
- 14:01very relaxed and grounded, just knowing.
- 14:04That you're always in control.
- 14:08Of your thoughts and your speech.
- 14:13And your destiny is determined merely by.
- 14:18Your hopes for the future.
- 14:22Your anticipation of what's to come.
- 14:28And with that I say to you may the
- 14:30long time sunshine upon all of you and
- 14:33all love surround you and the pure
- 14:35light that lives within you always
- 14:37guide your way on guide you way on.
- 14:41Thank you again so much for
- 14:43taking the time out of your day.
- 14:45For this journey, for this grounding.
- 14:48And hopefully the day and the weeks to
- 14:50come will be filled with much love,
- 14:52peace and hapiness.
