Biography
Dr. Flem Karlsen is a researcher who focuses on melanoma immunology. Her research entails deciphering the mechanisms behind a successful antitumor response, with a special focus on T cells. She is also interested in ferroptosis, a novel form of regulated cell death implicated as a crucial occurrence in immunotherapy-treated tumors. She is a postdoctoral associate in the lab of Dr. Marcus Bosenberg.
With a PhD thesis centered on precision medicine and melanoma therapy from the University of Oslo (Norway), Dr. Flem Karlsen has spent the majority of her career trying to understand melanoma cell biology with the ultimate goal of improving patient outcomes and advancing treatment options.
