The Michael L J Apuzzo Lectureship - James T. Rutka, MD, PhD
The Department of Neurosurgery is proud to host the Michael L. J. Apuzzo Lecture. This lecture was established in 2021 to honor Dr. Apuzzo, a globally renowned and prolific neurosurgeon and innovator who completed his residency at the Yale New Haven Hospital and went on to have a multi-faceted and highly influential career in academic neurosurgery. Dr. Apuzzo’s body of work and ideas is generally regarded as one of the primary motivators in the creation of modern neurosurgery.
This lecture invites the most esteemed and influential leaders in science and medicine to inspire and provoke thought.
This year’s honored guest is Dr. James T. Rutka of The University of Toronto, a world-renowned Pediatric Neurosurgeon whose clinical practice has been at the Hospital for Sick Children. Dr. Rutka's primary research and clinical interests relate to the science and surgery of human brain tumors and epilepsy.
