OHER Methods Colloquium 2024: "Use of Implementation Mapping to Promote Health Equity in Clinical Settings"
Dr. Melissa Valerio is a Professor and Associate Dean of Faculty Affairs at the UTHealth Houston School of Public Health. Dr. Valerio's interests include chronic disease management and prevention, designing and evaluating effective health education messages and materials, and survey methods. She is particularly interested in health literacy and cultural humility issues related to health education and communication in minority, underserved communities and the connection to health outcomes. Dr. Valerio has been involved in the planning, implementing, and evaluating the effectiveness of community-based coalitions and partnerships. Melissa’s research is currently funded by CDC, NIH, foundations, and the state of Texas. She is also part of the Institute for Integration of Medicine and Science (IIMS), a clinical translational science award serving Central Texas.
