Seeing is Believing: Alveolar-capillary Crosstalk in Acute Lung Injury

Presented by: Rebecca F. Hough, MD, PhD

Dr. Rebecca Hough is an Assistant Professor and pediatric intensivist at Columbia University. Her research interests are in mechanisms of alveolar-capillary barrier failure, which causes pulmonary edema in Acute Lung Injury/ARDS. Her work has revealed microvascular mitochondria as sensors of lung injury. Dr. Hough and her group have also begun to identify mechanisms that underlie the differences in lung injury responses in juvenile and adult animal models. Their work may guide future therapies for ARDS and Pediatric ARDS.
