Endocrinology Research in Progress: A New Metabolic Approach to Cancer Related Fatigue

Xinyi Zhang from the Perry Lab presents A New Metabolic Approach to Cancer Related Fatigue.

Xinyi is a PhD student in Cellular & Molecular Physiology. She will discuss her research identifying a new therapeutic target for cancer related fatigue, an intractable condition that affects 60+% of cancer patients. Cancer related fatigue both diminishes patients’ quality of life, and reduces the likelihood that they will complete potentially curative courses of treatment. However, there are no currently approved pharmacologic approaches to cancer related fatigue. Ms. Zhang will present data identifying a new therapeutic target to optimize systemic metabolism and protect against cancer related fatigue in murine models of melanoma and colon cancer.
