Registration is required. Click here to register.

One of the best places to find data is within scientific literature. This is where your peers write about, cite, and describe results based on data, whether it's public secondary data or primary datasets the authors have generated. In this training, we'll show you how to harness the power of PubMed and PubMed Central to find relevant data for your research, and you'll learn how to:

  • Refine search strategies to find datasets
  • Decide whether to search in PubMed or PubMed Central for datasets
  • Scan a research article for information about underlying data
  • Understand the effect of the NIH's Data Management and Sharing Policy on data in PubMed (and other tools)
  • Implement best practices to promote data discovery and overcome challenges in data finding
