LIVE VIRTUAL WEBINAR: Musculoskeletal Review Course for the Primary Care Provider: "Part I: The Lower Extremity & Lumbar Spine"

Target Audience

Specialties - Orthopedic Surgery

Overview

Musculoskeletal (MSK) conditions account for more disability and more costs to the US health care system than any other condition, and with the aging of the population, it is expected that the burden to society will continue to increase. The burden of MSK diseases in the US is currently estimated at 1 in 2 (126.6 million) adults, twice the rate of chronic heart and lung conditions.

This one-day educational activity, held via Zoom, will discuss clinical musculoskeletal conditions commonly encountered in the Primary Care or Internal Medicine practice. The program will provide a breakdown of conditions based upon regional anatomy and review common clinical conditions, a differential diagnosis based upon the symptoms, history & physical examination review & pearls, and diagnostic imaging workup.

Objectives

  1. Establish a more thorough differential diagnosis of common musculoskeletal conditions based upon the presenting patient complaints and age-specific populations
  2. Perform a more comprehensive, yet focused, physical examination based on patient complaints and history of illness
  3. Become more confident in the management of care of common musculoskeletal injuries and conditions
  4. Utilize diagnostic imaging modalities such as x-ray, MRI, and CT scan more cost-effectively
