Academic Hospitalist, Internal Medicine; Associate Program Director, Traditional Residency Program, Internal Medicine; Director of Quality Improvement and Patient Safety, Office of EducationBiography
Dr. Rodwin is a staff physician and academic hospitalist at the VA Connecticut Healthcare System in West Haven, CT. He completed his undergraduate degree in Biology and Neuroscience at Brandeis University. He then spent a year working in the laboratory of Dr. Anthony Hollenberg at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center before attending New York University School of Medicine. After completing his medical degree with a concentration in health policy, Dr. Rodwin came to Yale for his internship and residency. During residency, Dr. Rodwin completed research on variations in care at the patient, provider, and hospital levels with a particular focus on early adoption of new medications for cardiovascular diseases. After residency, Dr. Rodwin completed a year as the Chief Resident for Quality and Safety at the West Haven VA through the VA's National Center for Patient Safety and completed lean-six sigma training. Since then, he has worked at VA Connecticut as a hospitalist where he attends on the wards, teaching medical students and residents. His research is focused on patient safety, including assessments of preventable inpatient mortality and diagnostic errors, quality improvement, and variations in care between providers and hospitals. He serves as an Associate Program Director of the Traditional Internal Medicine Residency Program at Yale and as the Director of Quality Improvement and Patient Safety in the Office of Education at VA Connecticut.
