Biography
Matthew “Matt” Carriero Johnson was born in New Haven and raised in central Connecticut. He studied psychology, chemistry, and biology in undergraduate where he also served as a resident advisor and conducted research in immunology. He served in the AmeriCorps HealthCorps at the Community Health Center, Inc in Middletown, CT working with the healthcare for the homeless program. Matt attended the Creighton University School of Medicine, completed additional coursework in bioethics, and served as a member of the St. Joseph's/Barrow Neurological Institute Hospital Ethics Committee. He completed his Adult Psychiatry training at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center Harvard Psychiatry Residency Training Program in Boston, MA. Matt served as Chief Resident of the ED/CL Psychiatry Service and conducted research at the Lizano Lab focusing on the translational neuroscience of psychosis in autoimmune disorders. Matt served as an External Reviewer for Schizophrenia Research and continues in his role as an Assistant Editor for the Harvard Review of Psychiatry. Clinically, Matt is interested in the neurocognitive manifestations of psychotic disorders and attachment in childhood. Outside of the hospital, Matt enjoys spending time with family and dog Rue, woodworking, and playing golf.
