Biography
Dr. Lou is a social gerontologist studying inequalities and disparities in access, use, and quality of end-of-life care in the United States and China. Her ongoing work includes (1) end-of-life care and decision-making experiences among dementia caregiving dyads, (2) intervenable mechanism under racial/ethnic disparities of end-of-life care, and (3) the development of the end-of-life care system in China. Dr. Lou's work has appeared in the Journal of Gerontology: Social Sciences, The Gerontologist, Journal of Pain and Symptom Management, Aging and Mental Health, Frontiers in Psychology and OMEGA - Journal of Death and Dying.
Dr. Lou earned her Ph.D. in Social Work with a concentration in social policy and policy analysis at Columbia University. She holds a AM in Social Work from the University of Chicago and a BA in Social Work from East China University of Science and Technology in Shanghai, China.
