Department Grants Kickstart Early Career Research

November 25, 2019

We are pleased to announce the Yale Department of Surgery Academic Development Awards initiative, which aims to support early-career investigators, across the clinical, education, and basic science domains.

“The awards are unique insofar as they are exclusive to ladder faculty without previous grant-funding,” said Vice Chair or Research, Dr. Peter J Gruber. “The initiative is meant to foster early career development.”

The grants provide seed funding, ranging from $10K to $75K for preliminary data; and toward the goal of securing extramural funding at the end of the grant cycle.

“Our responsibility as healthcare leaders and clinical investigators, is to prepare the future; this is an investment in our people pipeline,” said Department of Surgery Chair, Dr. Nita Ahuja.

The application process requires support of an active mentor with a proven track record. Applications will be accepted thru Dec. 31, 2019, with grant funding to begin Feb. 1, 2020.

Eligibility, application, and allowable cost details can be found in the accompanying PDF (see related links).
