The Department of Surgery is pleased to announce the appointments of Courtney Gibson, MD and Anne Mongiu, MD as Associate Clerkship Directors for the Yale School of Medicine (YSM) Surgical Approach to the Patient 12-week Clerkship.

“Our clerkship leaders are instrumental in providing medical students with foundational surgical experience that is applicable across the medical specialties,” said Deputy Dean for Education at YSM, Jessica Illuzzi, MD, MS.

“We are especially grateful to Dr. David Stitelman for his many years of service as ACD for the Department, as he passes the baton to our new leaders,” Dr. Illuzzi said.

Dr. Stitelman who led the ACD position since 2016, will continue to support YSM’s clerkship initiatives, leading the design of a new mentorship program being formed this summer.

In their new roles, Drs. Gibson and Mongiu will work closely with Clerkship Director, Felix Lui, MD to further develop the department’s medical student curriculum in partnership with Department and YSM leadership.

The Department of Surgery supervises over 120 YSM medical students and 40 YSM PA students through their surgical clerkships and electives each year.
