1 Minute Read

Dale Sebastian, MD, associate professor of psychiatry, has been elected to the title of Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association (APA) by the APA Board of Trustees.

The designation takes effect Jan. 1, 2026, and places Sebastian among other leading psychiatrists in being recognized for their work.

Sebastian will be honored at the Convocation of Distinguished Fellows on May 18, 2026, during the APA Annual Meeting in San Francisco, Calif.

Fellow status reflects a psychiatrist’s dedication to the work of the APA and signifies allegiance to the psychiatric profession.

Sebastian is associate program director of the Yale Public Psychiatry Fellowship. His clinical and academic career has centered on the community mental health sector, with a focus on caring for individuals with chronic and severe mental illnesses in long-term inpatient settings. His areas of expertise include the treatment of psychotic and mood disorders, trauma, and personality disorders — often complicated by institutionalization, stigma, social isolation, legal challenges, and socioeconomic disparities.
