The advisory houses sponsor community-building events in collaboration with student representatives to foster social, networking, mentorship, and educational opportunities, including regular small-group lunches and dinners, annual MD-PhD advisory house teas, welcome BBQ/picnic/pool parties, the annual Kalanithi Cup, and annual fall and spring social events. The associate dean for student affairs and your head of advisory house can help connect you to a vast network of affiliates for additional mentorship and support, including faculty, house staff, alumni from every specialty, librarians, and community members.
What do Mario Kart, Cornhole, Trivia, Tug-of-War, Smash Brothers, and Dodgeball have in common? These activities comprised the first annual Yale School of Medicine (YSM) Kalanithi Cup, held on May 4, 2024, in Café Med, Harkness Ballroom, and the Harkness Lawn. The prize? YSM College pride and possessing the coveted Kalanithi Cup—a specially-engraved Mory’s cup—for a year, until the 2025 competition.
