Preschool Toddler Play Group

Led by Dr. Kelly Powell, Assistant Professor in the Child Study Center and Co-director of the Yale Toddler Developmental Disabilities Clinic, these groups are for preschool girls and focus on learning to play with others, as well as expressing oneself and developing imaginative play skills. These groups have been ongoing for the past four years, and have been successful in helping little girls learn how to enjoy being with others.

Swimming!

We have been fortunate to work with the Special Needs Undergraduate Program (SNUGS), a program of swimming lessons/free swim taught by Yale undergraduates. The club is led by Megan Sardis, a Yale student with substantial experience teaching swimming to students with special needs. The program happens on Sunday afternoons.

All ages are welcome!

Yoga for Girls and Teens

We offer yoga classes for girls and teens on the spectrum on a weekly basis. At present we have a class for teen girls on Sundays from 11 am to 12 noon at StudioGrounded in North Haven, CT. Teen girls and their moms are welcome to participate.

We are also planning a class for girls on the spectrum ages 8 to 12 years which will happen on Sundays from 12:30 to 1:15 pm at StudioGrounded in North Haven.

Artworxx

Artworxx is an art appreciation and art class held monthly at the Yale University Art Gallery in New Haven. We tour one of the many galleries and focus on a piece of art that we love, and then take some time to create our own work based on our inspiration! The program is offered through the education department at YUAG, by Jessica Sack, M.A., the Jan and Frederick Mayer Senior Associate Curator of Public Education at YUAG. Our art appreciation facilitators are Yale University Graduate Students with a special interest in art and helping others enjoy and appreciate art.

This program is for teens.

Women Creating Art

Classes are led by Tina Menchetti, who is the Art Director at Chapel Haven. Tina is amazing, and the classes have been a tremendous success.
