Basic Research

Our researchers in basic science investigate the most basic components of human development: genes, gene networks, cell biology, neural development. Methodologies include animal models such as mice, and zebrafish, and cell models such as Induced Pluripotent Stem Cells and organoids.

Basic Research

  • Investigators focus on the genetic basis for neuropsychiatric disorders from gene discovery to using gene knock-outs in model species to test promising drug treatments.
  • The developmental neurobiology pod includes investigations of normative neural de-velopment, neural cell differentiation, neurochemistry, and neurogenetics both in typical and a-typical development.
