Democracy in Demand: Developing Policy Power at the YCSC

Yale Child Study Center Community Meeting July 2024

Policies impacting the lives of children and their families are intensifying, with clashing supportive and antagonistic provisions in play across federal, state and local jurisdictions. For clinicians, researchers, educators and other key positions at YCSC, there is a critical and escalating need to improve understanding of how policies are established and implemented.

At the July YCSC community meeting, participants will hear about the State of the State, including policy concerns regarding children’s behavioral health and emerging policy practice at the YCSC. Learn about building blocks for governmental decision-making, including branches of government and balance of power. Engage in entertaining exercises and walk away with concrete ideas for how you can strengthen policies for children and families, and the communities in which they live, learn, work play and pray. Find your pathway to policy practice for improving the lives of children and their families and supporting those who strive for them.

For questions and additional information, contact Suzi Ruhl, JD, MPH and refer to the YCSC Outlook event and invitation for Zoom details.

YCSC community meetings are held on fifth Wednesdays of the month throughout the year, in addition to a special June recognition and award ceremony. All YCSC community members (faculty, staff, trainees, etc.) are welcome at these meetings.
