Child Study Center Compassionate Care Grand Rounds: Navigating the Siloes: Providers Respond when Both Suicidality and Severe Disordered Eating are Present

Mental health concerns in adolescents are often co-occurring, particularly in the most high-risk presentations (e.g., suicidality and eating disorders); the complexity and severity of these co-occurring conditions have only been exacerbated by the mental health crisis of the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite the prevalence of co-occurrence, assessment and treatment can often be siloed, leading to barriers in providing the most optimal cohesive care. This Compassionate Care Rounds provides a case example of interdisciplinary teams working together across systems to care for a child with the most life-threatening psychiatric concerns.
