Yale Child Study Center Staff Spotlight December 2023

December 11, 2023

Meet Kristy Grondzik

In the latest edition of a spotlight series launched in February to feature integrated business operations (IBO) and administration staff at the Yale Child Study Center (YCSC) and Department of Psychiatry, meet YCSC Assistant Administrator Kristy Grondzik.

How long have you been at Yale, and what roles have you filled in this time?

18 years. My titles have changed, but I have always been a Post Award Manager.

What energizes you (activities, roles, hobbies, or otherwise) outside of work?

My family. My son Jacob, now 14, plays basketball for several teams/organizations. I’ve enjoyed watching him grow as a player over the past few years. From late fall through summer, my husband and I travel all over CT and to watch him and his teams play in league games and tournaments. This Spring he is joining a new team which we will be traveling all over New England with. In addition, I love spending time with my sister (my best friend) and her family who live in Florida whenever possible. Avelo has made this much more doable, but one day we will be neighbors as we've talked about.

What three words would your friends use to describe you?

Talkative (although I don’t see this), caring, and happy.

If you could travel anywhere, where would it be?

Italy. As an Italian, I would love to visit Italy to see all the major attractions, visit the different villages, and see how their food compares to the Italian dishes I have grown to love.
