Yale Medicine

Dr. Andrew Lustbader completed his Pediatrics residency, Psychiatry, and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry training at the Yale University School of Medicine. Trained as a pediatrician and child and adolescent psychiatrist, his knowledge of the interface between the two disciplines is indispensable. Dr. Lustbader is a psychiatric consultant to the Yale hub of the ACCESS-MH program, which provides pediatricians with immediate child psychiatric support for the children and adolescents that they treat. Having been a practicing pediatrician, he has a history of consultation with pediatric clinics, development of collaborative office rounds (CORs), development of pediatric and mental health co-location primary care clinics, and serves as a physician educator of primary care practitioners on children’s mental health issues. As a director of the Psychopharmacology Clinic at the Yale Child Study Center, he supervised a multidisciplinary team where comprehensive evaluation and treatment were accented. He has utilized this multidisciplinary approach in his work as Director of the Therapeutic Center for Children and Families, a private practice group in Westport CT, and as an Associate Medical Director of the Mid-Fairfield Child Guidance Center, in Norwalk, CT. He has given many seminars to mental health, school-based, and primary care providers, regarding: psychopharmacology, psychiatric evaluation and treatment, treatment of physical and psychiatric chronic illnesses (including anxiety and trauma, depression, bipolar disorder, ADHD), parenting and divorce issues, and suicide prevention. Dr. Lustbader serves as President of the Connecticut Chapter of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (CCCAP), where he works to advocate for better children's health policy.
