Biography

Dr. Sondalle is a Solnit Integrated Fellow in Child, Adolescent, and Adult Psychiatry at the Yale University School of Medicine. He is also co-chief fellow of the Solnit Integrated training program for the 2024-2025 academic year. He grew up in rural Wisconsin. As a first-generation college graduate, he majored in both Biology and Chemistry at Ripon College in Wisconsin. He participated in summer research as an undergraduate in the Chemistry department at UW-Madison and at the Harvard Stem Cell Institute. Dr. Sondalle completed his M.D. and Ph.D. training in the Medical Scientist Training Program at the Yale University School of Medicine. His Ph.D. research in Genetics investigated the biological process of making ribosomes, the cellular machines responsible for protein production, and how defects in this process cause human disease. Dr. Sondalle is devoted to caring for adolescents and young adults as they transition into adulthood, particularly individuals who identify as LGBTQIA+ and individuals from rural communities. His clinical interests include psychodynamic psychopharmacology, psychodynamic psychotherapy, humanistic psychotherapy, internal family systems therapy, the treatment of personality disorders, and the treatment of complex trauma. Dr. Sondalle's clinical work has been greatly influenced by the work of Carl Rogers who once said: “This process of the good life ... involves the stretching and growing of becoming more and more of one's potentialities. It involves the courage to be. It means launching oneself fully into the stream of life.”
