Biography

Sean Morfin, BS, is a Postgraduate Associate in the Yale Child Study Center, working under Dr. Christine Cha. Sean graduated from St. Bonaventure University in May 2025, where he majored in psychology and played on the Division 1 men’s soccer team. After graduating, he began as a summer research intern in the Emotion, Health, and Psychophysiology Lab at Yale University. Upon completion of his internship, he joined the Cha Lab in August 2025 as a Research Trainee, assisting in research aimed at understanding suicidal thoughts and behaviors among adolescents. As of February 2025, he began serving as a Postgraduate Associate in the Cha Lab.

Sean’s research interests include examining the psychological mechanisms behind decision-making that leads to suicidal, self-injurious, and risky behaviors. In addition, he is interested in the overlap between these behaviors and serious mental illness. In the future, he plans to pursue a PhD in Clinical Psychology.
