Overview
Dr. Alex Broekhuijse, Psy.D., is a clinical psychologist and postdoctoral associate in the Department of Psychiatry at Yale School of Medicine. He earned his Psy.D. in clinical psychology from Roosevelt University and completed his predoctoral internship under Dr. Steven Silverstein in the University of Rochester's Serious Mental Illness specialty track. At PRIME, Alex is a clinical researcher, clinician, and SIPS assessor. He also serves as the clinic's Clinical Team Lead and supports the Clinical Director in coordinating patient care.
Clinically, Alex has specialized training in evidence-based treatments including exposure and response prevention (ERP), cognitive behavioral therapy for psychosis (CBTp), and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT). His research examines how beliefs about oneself and others shape social inference and contribute to symptom emergence among youth at clinical high risk (CHR) for psychosis. He hopes to use this work to develop precision psychosocial interventions for youth at CHR.
