Biography
Sara graduated from Loyola Marymount University in the spring of 2024 with a B.A. in Psychology and two minors in Statistics and Data Science and Health and Society. At LMU, she conducted research in the Sturm Lab, focusing on the lifespan development and quality of life of autistic individuals. Additionally, she completed an honors thesis that examined the distinction between pain caused by sensory stimuli versus physical injury in autistic women. Sara was a clinical intern at the University of Washington Autism Center, where she learned how to work with autistic children to support the development of their social skills, self-esteem, and self-efficacy during a summer camp. She also worked as a research assistant at UCLA, studying the neurological differences in aging among autistic adults, and coded and analyzed data for a faculty member at Ohio State University who focuses on the neurological processes and emotional experiences of pain in autistic adults. Currently, Sara is a Sara S. Sparrow Fellow in Clinical Neuroscience in the McPartland Lab. In the future, Sara hopes to become a clinical psychologist to support adolescents and adults with neurodevelopmental disorders.
