Academic Professionalism
The Office of Academic and Professional Development (OAPD) is guided by Yale School of Medicine's core values of integrity, respect, community, inclusion, and the development of others. Led by the deputy dean for professionalism and leadership development, OAPD fosters a positive and professional culture by:
- Promoting a shared vision of professionalism across the School of Medicine
- Serving as a confidential resource for individuals who experience or witness unprofessional behavior
- Managing processes for reporting, reviewing, and resolving professionalism concerns
- Supporting leaders in addressing professionalism issues within their departments, sections, programs, and laboratories
- Providing leadership development, coaching, and training opportunities
To help sustain a respectful and inclusive environment, OAPD reviews concerns and works to address issues as they arise. As part of its commitment to accountability and transparency, the office publishes annual summary data on reported professionalism concerns and outcomes, available on the Professionalism Reporting Data webpage.
Yale School of Medicine has expanded the work of faculty affairs in an effort to foster a community of mutual respect grounded in agreed upon values encompassing integrity, respect for relationships, a commitment to community, diversity and developing others.
