Clinical Care

Overview

Tito Vasquez, MD, is a plastic surgeon who treats patients of all ages. He specializes in aesthetic surgery, reconstructive surgery for cancer patients, complex reconstruction after trauma, and hand surgery. He is known in the greater Fairfield region for his excellent patient outcomes and low complication rates, and for his honesty and compassion with patients.

“My interest in surgery came from my parents who instilled a sense of dedication and commitment to excellence, along with an interest in science and the arts. They encouraged me to combine my skills in creativity and artistry with basic science,” Dr. Vasquez says.

He further developed his interest in these areas while serving in the U.S. Navy, completing a surgical internship at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland, and providing medical care for nearly a thousand Marines and Navy corpsmen in Okinawa, Japan.

“I came to regard every patient as having unique goals and needs,” says Dr. Vasquez, who now starts each new relationship with a patient with a discussion of options, including short- and long-term goals, to help tailor an individualized treatment plan.

As an aesthetic surgeon, he is skilled in facial rejuvenation and facelifts; breast implants, enhancement, or reduction; and body contouring, in addition to nonsurgical rejuvenation and injectables. His reconstructive surgeries focus especially on cancer of the skin and breast. While Dr. Vasquez is constantly learning new approaches to both cosmetic and reconstructive surgery, he says he often turns to techniques and services that have stood the test of time and experience. An example is Vaser ultrasound-assisted liposuction and liposculpture (ultrasound-assisted technology to remove fat and improve body contour).

In addition to treating patients, Dr. Vasquez was the former president of the medical staff at Bridgeport Hospital, which is part of Yale New Haven Health, and serves as the chairman of the hospital’s medical executive committee, while also participating in numerous other local and national committees. Among his many recognitions is a Navy Achievement Medal for outstanding service.

Dr. Vasquez has been included in Castle Connolly Medical Ltd.’s lists of Top Doctors for the past several years, and was recently awarded the Teacher of the Year 2024 from the plastic surgery division.
