Biography

Dr. Teresa Grochowski is an optometrist in the Department of Ophthalmology at Yale School of Medicine. She primarily sees patients at Yale’s Waterford location, where she provides comprehensive medical eye care and works collaboratively with Dr. Anita Hwang, a cornea specialist and cataract and refractive surgeon, as well as subspecialists in glaucoma, retina, and pediatric ophthalmology. She also collaborates with specialists across Yale’s network to provide comprehensive care to patients seen at other locations.

Her clinical work includes comprehensive eye exams, diabetic eye exams, glaucoma management, and evaluation of age-related macular degeneration, as well as post-operative care and urgent eye concerns. Her clinical interests include early detection of ocular disease, preventive eye care, and patient education. She is committed to delivering thorough, patient-centered care and plays an active role in supporting both new and returning patients with a wide range of eye health needs.

Dr. Grochowski earned her Doctor of Optometry degree from the Southern College of Optometry. She began her career in eye care during undergraduate studies while earning a Bachelor of Science in Biology. Since 2014, she has gained diverse experience in clinical practice and the optical industry, including specialty lens technology and research related to advanced vision measurement.

She was inducted into the Gold Key International Optometric Honor Society, an honor awarded to the top 10% of her class for leadership and service. She is a member of the American Optometric Association and is licensed to practice optometry in multiple states, including Connecticut.

Dr. Grochowski was one of the first optometrists to join Yale Ophthalmology and has helped expand access to routine and medical eye care in southeastern Connecticut and across the Yale network.

Outside of clinical practice, Dr. Grochowski has participated in humanitarian service work in Grand-Goâve, Haiti, supporting care and outreach at a local orphanage.
