Biography
Peter Block MD, MSc, is an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Section of Digestive Diseases at the Yale School of Medicine. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in philosophy from Haverford College, a Masters of Science in immunology from the University of Oxford, and a Medical Doctorate from Thomas Jefferson University. Dr. Block completed internal medicine residency at Thomas Jefferson University and fellowship training in gastroenterology and hepatology at Yale School of Medicine. He pursued further subspecialty fellowship training in advanced liver diseases and transplant hepatology at NYU Langone Health. He is board certified in both internal medicine and gastroenterology, and board eligible in transplant hepatology.
He works as a physician through Yale Medicine as a gastroenterologist and transplant hepatologist. He provides direct patient care and performs endoscopic procedures, including diagnostic and therapeutic upper endoscopies and colonoscopies. He is actively involved in the medical education of students and clinical trainees through the medical school. His clinical and research interests center on health outcomes of chronic liver disease, particularly hepatitis B, liver cancer, and cirrhosis.
