Biography

Can Akpınaroğlu joined YSL Proteomics in July 2024 as a Postgraduate Research Associate and is enthusiastic about exploring the proteomics landscape in oncology and molecular medicine.

He aims to integrate genomics and proteomics in the design of novel, investigator-driven research projects. His primary interests include telomeres and hTERT, given their pivotal roles in both cancer and aging. Cancer biology and molecular medicine represent his broader areas of expertise and long-term focus.

During his M.Sc. at Universität Ulm, Can focused on immuno-oncology, conducting independent research across several labs. His thesis project involved analyzing B-cell receptor signaling in chronic lymphocytic leukemia and monoclonal B-cell lymphocytosis patient samples via FACS, investigating potential gain-of-function mutations driving disease progression.

In his B.Sc. thesis at Yeditepe University, he explored the relationship between telomere-length regulation and aging through the lens of entropy generation and biothermodynamics.

Can aspires to contribute to translational science by bridging high-resolution molecular techniques with clinically relevant questions, with the goal of advancing precision oncology.
