Biography

Dr. Amy Darukhanavala (Daru) is an associate professor of pediatrics and practices pediatric endocrinology at Yale Medical Center. She graduated residency from Methodist Hospital in New York in 2008 and pediatric endocrinology fellowship from the University of Chicago in 2011. She has established and maintained a collaboration with the cystic fibrosis (CF) team at Yale Medical Center to address CF-associated endocrine concerns of those with CF. Dr. Daru received a three year EnVision II award from the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation in 2019. Her research interest is mainly involved with growth and puberty in CF and she is currently principal investigator (PI) of a study examining the effects of Trikafta on the growth and puberty of children. Additional CF-endocrine research includes recently published papers on Covid-19 and cystic fibrosis-related diabetes (CFRD), eating disorders in CF, vitamin D metabolism and bone health in CF, INDET and IGT screening in CF, and the importance of a multidisciplinary clinic in CF care. She has presented poster presentations at past North American Cystic Fibrosis Conferences and has given invited lectures regionally, nationally and internationally on various CF-endocrine topics. Dr. Daru is a co-author on the growth module for the Indiana University School of Medicine CME CF course. Additionally, she led an EnVision II educational project which will provide CF- endocrine information for both patients and providers on the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation website. Currently, she is participating in a multisite study regarding the use of the bionic pancreas in those with CFRD.

Beyond her strong interest in CF-endocrine, Dr. Daru remains dedicated to her endocrine patients. She has been a medical director of the Barton Center for Diabetes Camp since 2018. She has published her work as PI on a study examining the medical and psychological benefits of diabetes camp for those with type I diabetes. She has been on the Barton Center Board of Directors since 2021 and joined the Board of Directors for the Diabetes Camp Collaborative in January 2022. Finally, Dr. Daru is excited to be the pediatric endocrinology fellowship director at Yale School of Medicine as of July 1, 2025.
