During the 2023 European Stroke Organisation Conference (ESOC) held from May 24 – 26 in Munich Germany, Cyprien Rivier, MD, MSc a postdoctoral research fellow in the Falcone Lab was awarded the ESOC Young Research Investigator Award in Stroke for his submitted abstract, “Cerebral Amyloid Angiopathy Influences the Risk of Non-traumatic Subdural Hemorrhage: A Combined Analysis in the UK Biobank and All of Us.”
The ESOC is a summit of Europe’s leading stroke researchers and physicians. Participants have the unique opportunity to share and learn about the latest research and technological advancements in stroke care from their peers.
The Award recognizes early-career researchers whose research findings make significant contributions to understanding the mechanisms of stroke and improving patient outcomes. One of five awardees, Dr. Rivier received this important distinction for leading a study that examines the role of cerebral amyloid angiopathy in the risk of subdural hemorrhage. Cerebral amyloid angiopathy is a disease of the brain's small vessels and is a known risk factor for intracerebral hemorrhage, however its link with subdural hemorrhage was not established before.
