Biography

Josh is a fourth-year MD-PhD student in the lab of Sidi Chen, where his graduate work lies within the intersection of cancer immunology, genetic engineering, and systems biology.

Josh completed his undergraduate education at Brown University, where he earned degrees in Chemistry and Biomedical Engineering with honors. At Brown, Josh’s research dissected GPCR-mediated signaling pathways implicated in melanoma progression. He also contributed to a thorough functional characterization of regulatory SNPs that yields insight into the evolutionary mechanisms of human skin color diversity. At Yale, Josh hopes to leverage his background in cell biology and functional genomics to explore how gene editing and high throughput screening can be used to identify therapies for hematologic and solid malignancies.

Outside of science and medicine, Josh enjoys pottery, cooking, and walking dogs around New Haven.
