  • 00:18Fax has grown my 25 year study
  • 00:20on HIV to diverse studies in the
  • 00:23national VA population,
  • 00:24benefiting from our experience and rigorous
  • 00:26work on data and phenotype validation.
  • 00:29We continue to lead scientific
  • 00:30research in the field of HIV with
  • 00:32the largest HIV cohort in North
  • 00:34America and are at the forefront of
  • 00:36the next generation of large scale,
  • 00:38rigorous and reproducible EHR research.
  • 00:41Our International Research consortium
  • 00:43brings together clinical experts,
  • 00:45methodologists and trainees who
  • 00:47utilize the rich and valuable
  • 00:49data from the Veterans Health
  • 00:51Administration to do impactful research.
  • 00:54Fax is organized into 11 cores and two
  • 00:56work groups who oversee and facilitate
  • 00:58research projects and initiatives,
  • 00:59all chaired by leaders in their fields.
  • 01:02Each core is composed of community
  • 01:04members who actively participate
  • 01:05in the research strategy,
  • 01:07execute research projects,
  • 01:08and have the opportunity to
  • 01:10participate in new proposals.
  • 01:16For those interested in submitting
  • 01:17a new research proposal,
  • 01:18we invite you to submit a short summary of
  • 01:21your research question and study design.
  • 01:23From here, our executive committee,
  • 01:25Max X, will review the proposal
  • 01:27for initial feasibility and assign
  • 01:29it to a VAX core work group.
  • 01:31Core Members then review for scientific
  • 01:33merit and provide feedback in order
  • 01:35for the core chairs and backpacks
  • 01:37to make final decisions on approval
  • 01:39and priority scoring scores and work
  • 01:41actively with the proposal principal
  • 01:43investigators to execute the research
  • 01:46project using validated definitions
  • 01:48and rigorous and reproducible methods.

  • 02:17questions about access data definitions,
  • 02:19data design, and request consultations
  • 02:21for your research projects.

  • 02:26to share progress on their projects,
  • 02:28or to ask for feedback and help.
