Paging Future Heroes to Greenwich

1 Minute Read

Greenwich Hospital recently hosted its annual Youth Access Healthcare Explorers Week for local high school students and recent graduates.

The experience introduced aspiring physicians, nurses, and other future healthcare professionals to patient care in a realistic clinical setting. Over a few action-packed days, students learned medical skills through immersive learning.

Hands-on clinical simulation

A highlight of the program was an exploration of the hospital’s Simulation Lab, which featured interactive medical scenarios collaboratively developed by Yale Center for Healthcare Simulation and Greenwich Hospital.

The exercises provided a safe environment for students to build confidence and develop practical skills in healthcare. Key activities and lessons included:

  • Emergency response: Students learned to recognize and respond to medical emergencies as a team.
  • Practical skills: Participants gained hands-on experience practicing CPR and using EpiPens.
  • Core capabilities: Training emphasized teamwork, communication, and quick decision-making.

The Yale Center for Healthcare Simulation and Greenwich Hospital partner together to inspire future medical professionals. Collaboratively, they bring medicine to life, while demonstrating the rewards and the impact of a medical career.
