Information for Applicants

Application Process

To ensure sufficient time for our program to conduct a fair and equitable review of all applications received, applicants should not expect to receive interview invitations before mid-August. Consistent with Yale GME and AADPRT recommendations, the Yale Psychiatry Residency Program will be hosting an all-virtual recruitment process for the 2025-2026 recruitment cycle.

Thank you for your interest in our Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Training Program. You may apply through ERAS starting July 16, 2025 - September 1, 2025.

Please complete/upload the following to the ERAS application:

  • Complete the ERAS application and include: an updated Curriculum Vita. (Describe any lapses of more than one month in training, if applicable), Request a minimum of three letters of reference (including Program Director) and Medical School Program Evaluation/Dean's Letter, Complete the Personal Statement describing your interest in child and adolescent psychiatry and plans for future professional work. (This Statement should not be more than 1,000 words)
  • The Yale Child Study Center requires applicants have their program director complete this form along with the written letter of recommendation and submit them through the Letter of Recommendation Portal (LoRP).
  • Complete the Attestations form and email it to Karen Franchi.

Interview Process

We begin our fellowship interviews in mid-September and continue through mid-November. Applicants receiving an interview offer can generally expect to have been contacted by September 5th (absent rare occasions when, due to cancellation, we may have an interview opening later in the season). Your interviews at Yale will include two different fellowship training tracks: our State of Connecticut Albert J. Solnit Children’s Center, South Campus or “Solnit South Track” and our Yale-New Haven Children’s Hospital or “New Haven Track”. The two tracks have different Match numbers, Solnit South: SS 1089405F1 and New Haven: NH 1089405F0 and you get the opportunity to meet faculty and fellows in both tracks. We will contact you via Thalamus to schedule an interview after reviewing your application.

Applicants are encouraged to attend one of the evening fellow meet & greets held via Zoom during the interview season. This will give you an opportunity to mingle with current Child and Adolescent Psychiatry fellows and get a better feel for the program.

What to Expect

2025 Interview Dates: Sept. 15, 22; Oct. 6, 13, 27; Nov. 3, 10

All interviews will be virtual this year per ACGME and specialty guidelines. Although we will not be able to meet you in person, we are satisfied with our virtual interview process and feel that we can give you a good preview of what our program has to offer. Our interviews will be hosted via Zoom and we ask that all applicants find a quiet comfortable space for your use during your interview times with access to a camera and microphone. Upon your interview acceptance, you will be emailed instructions and log in information.
