Acute Effects of THC in Older Adult

What is the purpose of this trial?
You are invited to participate in a research study designed to examine how aging influences the acute effects of delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the principal active constituent of cannabis/marijuana. This study is sponsored and funded by the National Institute on Drug Abuse. This study will help older adults about the risks and benefits of cannabis. Participation in this research study will take a total of approximately 12 hours, spread out over one screening session (approximately 4 hours), and one dosing day (approximately 8 hours). On the dosing day, you will receive 2 of the following: placebo, low dose THC and medium dose THC. There will also be brief follow-up telephone questionnaires administered approximately 24 hours, 1 month, 3 months and 6 months after the dosing day.
Study Visits:
- Visit 1: In-Person Screening Visit
- Visit 2: Test Day, in which you will receive 2 of the following: placebo, low dose THC and medium dose THC
- Telephone questionnaires (24 hours, 1 month, 3 months and 6 months after test days)
Compensation: $50 for screening and $300 for the test day, for a total of up to $350.
