About

Biography

Violet M. Kimble is a Ph.D. candidate in the Interdepartmental Neuroscience Program at Yale University, where she investigates the neurobiological mechanisms underlying substance use and mood disorders, with a particular focus on sex differences and the role of ovarian hormones. Her dissertation research examines how estrogen receptor signaling and L-type calcium channels mediate comorbid cocaine use and social withdrawal behaviors, using preclinical models to uncover molecular and behavioral phenotypes relevant to treatment development.

In addition to her scientific training, Violet has held leadership roles in translational initiatives at Yale Ventures, where she supports the commercialization of faculty-developed technologies. She is passionate about bridging the gap between academic research and real-world impact, and has been recognized by national programs such as the NIH Outstanding Scholars in Neuroscience Award Program (OSNAP) and Johns Hopkins I4SUD Executive Education, where she explored health innovation in the substance use disorder (SUD) space.

Violet is an advocate for equitable health solutions, blending her background in neuroscience, business development, and public impact to advance evidence-based interventions. Her work integrates behavioral neuroscience, molecular biology, and translational strategy to inform future approaches to neuropsychiatric care.
