Shahyan Ur Rehman, MD

Shahyan Rehman, MD is a general surgery resident at Yale New Haven Hospital. He graduated from the University of Rochester with a dual degree (BA/BS) in Neuroscience and Religion with Highest Distinction. He obtained his M.D. with Distinction in Research from Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. He was selected to spend a year between his third and fourth year of medical school at the National Institutes of Health through the NIH Medical Research Scholars Program. During this time in the Hernandez Lab, he had the opportunity to use ex vivo human tissue platforms to study the tumor microenvironment. As a resident at Yale, he discovered a passion for pediatric surgery. His research interests include cancer metabolism and targeted drug delivery for pediatric solid tumors. He plans to pursue a career as an academic pediatric surgeon with a special interest in pediatric surgical oncology. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his family, playing basketball, and exploring the many theatre shows, museums, restaurants, and coffee shops in New Haven and the surrounding area.
