Maximilian Wegener, MPH

Max Wegener is a Biomedical Informatics Librarian specializing in research data, programming, and computational methods for biomedical and public health research. An epidemiologist by training, he brings more than a decade of experience in infectious disease surveillance and HIV/hepatitis C research to his work with Yale investigators. His work centers on helping researchers find, retrieve, clean, analyze, and share data, including large clinical and population datasets such as the NIH All of Us Research Program. He collaborates with faculty, staff, and students throughout the research lifecycle, providing expertise in R programming, statistical analysis, reproducible research practices, and data retrieval through APIs and web scraping. His teaching and consultation activities focus on building practical, hands-on data skills, including AI-assisted coding, supported by free, open training materials he develops for learners at Yale and beyond.
