Martin S. Gross, MD, FACS

About

Biography

Martin S. Gross, MD, FACS, is an Associate Professor of Urology at Yale School of Medicine and a Men's Health specialist for Yale New Haven Health. He is an internationally recognized expert in complex penile prosthesis surgery and in the prevention and management of penile prosthesis infection.

His clinical practice also includes the medical and surgical treatment of male sexual health conditions. He strives to put the men and couples he treats at ease when discussing sensitive topics. He believes clear, evidence-based counseling can meaningfully improve patients' quality of life.

Dr. Gross has coauthored more than 400 peer-reviewed journal articles, abstracts, videos, and book chapters. He co-founded the Prosthetic Urology Multi-institutional Partnership (PUMP), a collaboration of penile prosthesis surgical centers around the world.

He holds editorial roles as an Associate Editor for The Journal of Sexual Medicine and the Video Journal of Sexual Medicine and as a Senior Editor for the AUA Core Curriculum and Trends in Urology & Men's Health. He previously represented the New England AUA Section on the editorial board of The Journal of Urology for six years. He reviews regularly for more than a dozen journals, and The Journal of Sexual Medicine previously named him an Outstanding Reviewer.

Dr. Gross serves on the Board of Directors of the Sexual Medicine Society of North America (SMSNA) as Chair of the Surgical Committee and has held seats on several of the society's other national committees. He is President of the Barbara and Steve Wilson Educational Foundation and President-Elect of the Hispanic Urologists Society of North America. He also sat on the boards of the Society of Urologic Prosthetic Surgeons and the New England AUA Section, twice leading the latter's Annual Meeting as Program Co-Chair.

Dr. Gross teaches on men's health and penile prosthesis surgical technique both domestically and internationally and has been course director or faculty for numerous educational courses over the years. He has acted as visiting professor to multiple institutions. He has guided a number of medical students into competitive urology residencies and mentored many urology residents and fellows, several of whom now hold academic faculty positions of their own.

He joined Yale after a decade on the faculty of the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth College, where he co-directed the Dartmouth Hitchcock Men's Health Center.
