Lindsey Fenton

Lindsey Whissel Fenton, MEd, CT (she/her), is an Emmy Award-winning filmmaker, instructional strategist, and thanatologist whose work focuses on translating nuanced topics into accessible, engaging learning experiences.

In her role with the Grief-Sensitive Healthcare Project at Yale Child Study Center, Lindsey leads strategy for learning, outreach, and growth. She brings together expertise in instructional design, multimedia content creation, and audience engagement to expand the GSHP’s offerings and reach, drawing on research and best practices to develop actionable resources for healthcare professionals, patients, families, and other care partners.

Prior to joining Yale, Lindsey spent nearly two decades at PBS/NPR affiliate WPSU, most recently as Senior Producer/Director and Instructional Designer. There, she led national media and educational projects focused on grief, trauma, and mental health. Central to that work was Speaking Grief, an Emmy®-nominated multiplatform initiative that elevated awareness and expanded access to education nationwide. Lindsey built on this work through projects such as Learning Grief and partnerships with organizations including New York Life and the Meadows Mental Health Policy Institute to bring grief- and trauma-informed education to workplaces, schools, and law enforcement.

Lindsey earned her bachelor’s degree in Cinema and Digital Arts from Point Park University and her master’s degree in Learning, Design, and Technology from Penn State. She is Certified in Thanatology (CT) through the Association for Death Education and Counseling (ADEC) and serves on the Board of Directors of the National Alliance for Children’s Grief (NACG).
