Biography

Lindsey Whissel Fenton, MEd, CT (she/her) is a grief educator, Emmy Award-winning filmmaker, and instructional designer whose work focuses on developing educational initiatives that make complex emotional topics more accessible, engaging, and actionable.

As Associate Director of Learning and Content Strategy for the Grief-Sensitive Healthcare Project at Yale Child Study Center, Lindsey’s work brings together learning design, multimedia content, communications, outreach, and strategic growth to expand the reach and impact of grief-sensitive healthcare education.

Prior to joining Yale, Lindsey spent nearly two decades in public media at PBS/NPR affiliate WPSU, where she most recently served as a senior producer/director and instructional designer, leading projects focused on grief, trauma, and mental health. She is the creator of Speaking Grief, a national multiplatform initiative working to create a more grief-aware society, and Learning Grief, which provides free grief education for adults who support grieving children and teens, and serves on the Board of Directors of the National Alliance for Children’s Grief (NACG).

Lindsey earned her bachelor’s degree in Cinema and Digital Arts from Point Park University and her master’s degree in Learning, Design, and Technology from Penn State. She is Certified in Thanatology through the Association for Death Education and Counseling (ADEC).

Originally from Buffalo, New York, Lindsey currently lives on the Connecticut shoreline with her dog, Ellie. Outside of work, she enjoys reading, rock climbing, and tackling too many home improvement projects at once.
