Biography

Arjun Miklos is a first-year MD-PhD student from Palo Alto, California. He graduated in 2023 with a B.A. in Mathematics and Biology from Dartmouth College, where he completed an Honors Thesis under Olga Zhaxybayeva studying the evolution of hyperthermophily in the bacterial phylum Thermotogota. In the summer of 2022, he worked in Ami Bhatt's lab at Stanford, investigating invertible genomic elements in the human gut microbiome. From 2023 to 2025, he was a computational associate in the Bacterial Genomics Group led by Ashlee Earl at the Broad Institute, focusing on bacterial strain variation in Enterococcus and the roles of the vaginal and gut microbiomes in recurrent urinary tract infections. At Yale, Arjun intends to apply computational biology methods to advance the understanding of human health and disease.
