Biography
Dr. Andrea Amabile is a faculty member in the Division of Cardiac Surgery at the Yale School of Medicine. After graduating as valedictorian from medical school in Italy in 2020 and obtaining a Master’s in Biostatistics in 2021, he completed his postdoctoral research training in cardiac surgery at Yale University in 2022.
He has authored more than 80 peer-reviewed manuscripts and book chapters with a focus on robotic cardiac surgery and mitral valve surgery outcomes. His work has been presented more than 70 times at national and international conferences, including at the American Association for Thoracic Surgery (AATS), the European Association for Cardiothoracic Surgery (EACTS), the Western Thoracic Surgical Association (WTSA), the Eastern Cardiothoracic Surgical Society (ECTSS), the International Society for Minimally Invasive Cardiothoracic Surgery (ISMICS), the Heart Valve Society (HVS), and the Mitral Conclave.
He serves as Associate Editor for Journal of Cardiac Surgery and is a peer reviewer for multiple indexed journals. He also serves as President of the Junior Researchers Committee of the Association of Italian Surgeons in North America (AISNA), and as Secretary of the Yale Italian Society.
Outside of work, he is a classically trained pianist.
