Venkatesh Discusses Drones, Air Purifiers, on WTNH

1 Minute Read

Arjun Venkatesh, MD, MBA, MHS, chair of Emergency Medicine, discussed the use of drones in health care and the value of air purifiers during the winter months in a recent interview on WTNH, Channel 8.

While drones have been a cause for concern recently in some parts of the country, they are actually becoming more and more important when it comes to health care, Venkatesh said in an interview on WTNH's "Good Morning Connecticut." In countries outside the U.S., drones have become a valuable tool for getting medications and vaccines to rural and hard-to-reach areas, he said.

Venkatesh also was asked whether the air purifiers that people bought during the COVID pandemic should be used this winter to help ward off respiratory viruses. While the science is not clear on whether air purifiers help prevent COVID, they have been shown to be effective at reducing many allergens and other substances in the air that could be harmful, he said.
