The 2025 Sid Altman Symposium Committee invites you to celebrate the legacy of Prof. Sidney Altman’s groundbreaking research and mentorship in RNA science.
Altman Fund Mission Statement
The fund shall be used to support an annual scientific symposium or conference at Yale, which shall be named in honor of Professor Sidney Altman. An overarching objective of the seminar will be to sustain Professor Altman’s enduring legacy as a scientist, mentor, and educator. Professor Altman shared the 1989 Nobel Prize in Chemistry, which was awarded for the discovery of the catalytic properties of RNA. Professor Altman was the Sterling Professor of Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology, as well as Chair of Biology and Dean of Yale College.
