Sophie Barnes, PhD

Education Collaboratory postdoctoral associate Sophie Barnes, PhD, is a recent recipient of the Yale Child Study Center (YCSC) Travel Award. This award provides grants to post-doctoral associates and fellows of the YCSC to help cover expenses related to attending or presenting research at national or international academic and scientific conferences.

Dr. Barnes intends to use this award for the 2025 Society for Research on Educational Effectiveness (SREE) conference. She will present on the Education Collaboratory’s work on the Living Systematic Review of K-12 social and emotional learning (SEL) interventions as the chair of a symposium titled “Driving Evidence-Based Change in SEL and Beyond through Rigor, Relevance, and Representation” with associate professor Christina Cipriano, PhD, EdM, and postdoctoral associate Michael McCarthy, PhD. She will also present in a symposium titled “Policy, Practice, and Politics of SEL: Evidence for Action” with colleagues from the Ecological Approaches to Social Emotional Learning (EASEL) Lab at Harvard University.

I'm excited to present my work to and get feedback from a diverse group of scholars, to learn about new methods and ideas in the field, and to connect with other education researchers.

Sophie Barnes, PhD
