Tiffany N. Younger, PhD

Dr. Tiffany N. Younger is an Assistant Professor at the Yale School of Medicine in the Department of Psychiatry, trained clinical epidemiologist and a researcher with the Program for Recovery and Community Health (PRCH). Her research examines how wealth shapes health and well-being, with a focus on families and children. She studies how debt, assets, and wealth-building policies affect mental health and opportunities across generations. Her emerging work also examines biological markers of wealth-related stress and the pathways through which wealth related conditions become embodied.

Dr. Younger is the principal investigator of The Wealth of Blackness: Cultural Wealth and Black Family Well-Being and co-principal investigator of Growing Futures, a longitudinal, community-engaged study of Connecticut’s Baby Bonds program. She is a 2026 recipient of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation’s Health Equity Scholars for Action (HES4A) career development award. Through qualitative and mixed methods research, she centers the perspectives of community partners, caregivers, and youth to understand lived experiences and generate evidence that informs policies to advance health equity.

Dr. Younger earned her Doctor of Philosophy in Social Welfare from the Graduate Center at CUNY and completed her degree in Clinical Epidemiology at Weill Cornell Graduate School of Medical Sciences. During her predoctoral training, she conducted research through an NIH-funded T32 fellowship in clinical research science, focusing on health disparities and the impact of structural racism on cardiovascular disease, maternal health, and cancer disparities. She subsequently pursued postdoctoral training at Yale School of Medicine as a fellow with the Yale Center for Clinical Investigation (YCCI). She also holds a Master of Science in Social Policy from the University of Pennsylvania’s School of Social Policy and Practice. Dr. Younger resides in Harlem, New York, with her daughter, Grace.
