Biography
Dr. Matthew Bizzarro is a Professor of Pediatrics, the Vice Chair of Clinical Affairs for the Department of Pediatrics, and the Medical Director of the Yale Neonatal Intensive Care Unit Network. He previously served as the Medical Director for the Yale New Haven Children's Hospital NICU, the NICU Transport Team, the Director of the Pediatric Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) Program at Yale-New Haven Children's Hospital.
Invited lectures and publications have focused primarily on neonatal infectious disease epidemiology and the prevention of hospital acquired infections in the NICU population, particularly central line associated bloodstream infections. He has served on the Extracorporeal Life Support Organization's International Task Force to Prevent Infections on ECMO, the Connecticut State Infectious Disease Action Team, and is a member of the Connecticut Statewide Perinatal Quality Collaborative.
Dr. Bizzarro received his undergraduate degree in Biology from Dartmouth College and his medical degree from Rutgers-New Jersey Medical School. He completed his Pediatric Residency at New York University and his Neonatology Fellowship at Yale University.
