Biography

Dr. Geertz grew up in the Finger Lakes region of New York. She attended the College of the Holy Cross and Binghamton University for her undergraduate and graduate studies, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Biological Sciences and a Master of Science in Genetics. She completed her medical degree at the Kentucky College of Osteopathic Medicine, followed by an internal medicine residency at the University of Kentucky in Lexington, Kentucky.

Her particular interests are at the intersection of pulmonary disease and environmental public health. In the future she is hoping to expand access to and investigate broader guidelines for preventative screenings for lung cancer that go beyond just tobacco exposure.

Outside of the hospital, she enjoys traveling, spending time above and below the water—especially scuba diving—hiking, cycling, and playing ice hockey.
